If your hard disk is great than 400 Meg:

(1) Download and save this image file, drag and drop it into a winimage shortcut or
an open winimage window, click File....Write to create a bootable floppy disk.

(2) Caution: this step erases the entire hard disk immediately and permanently,
including all Linux, NTFS and OS/2 partitions.
Boot up using the DOS boot floppy from Step (1).
The following command erases the entire partition table: the hard disk becomes "factory-fresh"
(it will destroy all the data on it as well)
debug   <   killdisk.txt         (Microsoft Knowledgebase reference Q106419)

(3) Create DOS partitions:
fdisk       when fdisk asks "Do you want to enable large disk support" Answer  No.
next choose "Create DOS partition"
next choose "Create Primary DOS partition"
fdisk will ask "Do you wish to use maximum...":  Answer No
"Enter partition size"   300     (you can choose any number between 10 to 350)
Esc
choose "Set active partition"; choose partition number  1
Esc
next choose "Create DOS partition"
next choose "Create Extended DOS partition"
fdisk will ask "Enter partition size...": just hit Enter to use the default value
Esc
fdisk will ask "Logical drive size....": just hit Enter to use the default value
Esc 2 or 3 times until you are back to the DOS prompt

(4) Power down, wait 5 seconds,  then power up

(5) format c:

(6) format d:

Technical synopsis: if you use a drive with capacity greater than about 500 Meg,
fdisk.exe will decide to use the FAT-32 file format. FAT-32 is not compatible with LRP.
Hence you want to keep the primary DOS partition to below 400 Meg to make
sure fdisk.exe uses the FAT-16 file format.
